LIVING FOR JESUS

…Let your light shine for all to see…. Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)

Living for Jesus can be a challenge, being in the world but not of it, taking a stand for Jesus, living our lives for Jesus. More of Him, less of us. Christians certainly face greater challenges than ever before living in the world today. Temptations, frustrations and aggravations. The Word even says in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV) …but mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

We need to be ever mindful to keep our hearts and eyes on God and not on the events of the world. We need to renew ourselves daily and commit our lives to the Lord, exchanging our weakness for His strength. We need to try our best to live our lives for Jesus, letting our lights shine for Him. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven Matthew 5:16 (NIV).

As born-again believers in Jesus Christ, how we live our lives daily is our best example to others of the love of Jesus in our hearts. The choices we make, the words we use, and how we treat others. Living your life as best you can, the way Jesus lived, is the greatest testimony you can give to those around you.

Consider the following scriptures.

Isaiah 60:1 (NLT)…Let your light shine for all to see….

Luke 6:35 (NLT)  Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great…

Hebrews 6:10 (NLT) For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

1 Peter 3:14 (NLT) But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it…

Proverbs 25:21-22 (NLT)  If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat.  If they are thirsty, give them water to drink.

1 John 4:17 (NLT) And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
